Cincinnati Bridge Association Board of Trustees (Directors)
Minutes of the Regular Meeting of August 9, 2011

Board President Stephani called the meeting to order at 5:35 p.m. Present were: Mary Clifton, Cordell Coy, Debbie Cummings, Patrick Hoffman, Gayle Keaney, Everitt Kitchen, Barb Levinson, Potter Orr, Mike Purcell, and A.J. Stephani. Members Absent: Chris Schwartz. Also attending were Kay Mulford and Mike Lipp.

The August minutes were approved.

A nominating committee for candidates for election to the board was established composed of the board members leaving the board at the end of 2011, namely Debbie Cummings, Ev Kitchen, Barb Levinson, and Chris Schwartz.

Kay Mulford recommended that one of the existing CBA trophies be named in honor of Nancy Sachs and Linda Wolper. Ev Kitchen was asked to report back to the board at the September meeting about the views of some long-standing members of the club about the use of trophies other than the Steurnagle and Eber trophies for recognizing service to CBA and the bridge community.

Gayle Keaney reported that payment has been made to Debbie Cummings for expenses incurred for the club. She also reported that the finance committee is addressing the financial difficulties of CBC and CBA, and that an explanation of the financial status has been prepared for the Alert. The committee expects to present recos to the board by October 6 for discussion at the October meeting and votes on recommendations at the November meeting

A switch of phone suppliers from Cincinnati Bell to Time Warner will save about $60/month for combined internet and phone service.

Mike Purcell reported for the Education Committee that beginner classes to begin in September will be advertised in Senior Life. A series of 6 Saturday classes will be offered with each class followed by a game.

Cordell Coy reported for the tournament committee that planning has been completed for the Fall Sectional. One change anticipated for the next Regional is including a Speed Game to improve the scheduling. For the uninitiated (me) this means the average time for playing a board is 51/2minutes vs a customary 7 minutes.

The meeting was adjourned at 6:45.
