In Memoriam – Janet Rose

Janet Rose, Esquire, passed away peacefully on May 17th, 2026, at the age of 90. Born October 13th, 1935, in Cincinnati, Ohio to parents Harry and Zelda Toby. She was a lifelong Cincinnatian, except for a brief stint in Cleveland during her childhood. She excelled in academics and was a proud alumnus of Walnut Hills High School.

She married Ronald Rose in 1955 and raised 3 children with him; Julie, Andrew, and Sally in their 24 years together. She returned to college in the 1970s to complete her bachelor’s followed by her Juris Doctor degree at the University of Cincinnati.

Janet was well known for her rapier wit and intelligence. She was an avid life master bridge player, a voracious reader, and an enthusiastic home chef. She dreamed of someday publishing a cookbook of her carefully guarded secret recipes. She also was a fan of British murder mysteries and was happiest watching them on BritBox with her family around her.

She is predeceased by her son Andrew Rose, sister Judith Toby, and parents Harry and Zelda. She is survived by her daughters Julie and Sally Rose of Cincinnati, and granddaughter Madeline Rose Weisman of Philadelphia.

Per Janet’s wishes, there will be no formal funeral. She generously chose to donate her remains to the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. Therefore, burial will occur at an unknown date in the future at Spring Grove Cemetery. The family will hold a visitation 4:30-7:30 PM Sunday, May 31st at 7650 Foxgate Lane, 45243.
